We currently serve hundreds of youth throughout the Big Horn Basin. The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Wyoming headquarters is located in Worland, Wyoming but we serve the following Northwest Wyoming counties: Park, Hot Springs, Big Horn, Washakie and Fremont. We provide youth with mentors and friends through our proven match systems. We maintain a strong presence in rural Wyoming by enhancing services in the community and continue to reach out to more rural families each year.
Provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
All children achieve success in life.
We partner with parents/guardians, volunteers, and others in the community and hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program achieving:
~ Higher aspirations, greater confidence and better relationships
~ Avoidance of risky behaviors
~ Educational success.
Here's the proof. National research has shown that positive relationships between Littles and their Bigs have a direct and measurable impact on children's lives. By participating in our programs, little Brothers and Sisters are:
~ More confident in their schoolwork performance
~ Able to get along better with their families
~ 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
~ 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
~ 52% less likely to skip school
Meet Jerry and Gonzalo
These two have been matched since February of 2018. They both love the outdoors and learning new things. Some of their favorite activities are hiking, fishing, learning camping and outdoor safety, and visiting the helicopters at the airport where Jerry works as an emergency responder. Some of the most recent things they have done are attended the local powwow and our river rafting family match activity. Jerry and Gonzalo have such a fun energy and have great respect and care for each other.
"It is a complete blessing to be a part of my little and his families lives and happiness. Not only giving to him and them, but my receiving of the gift of friendship as well. Many times I think of a child as an arrow and me as the bow in his hands that can fly straight and true. Mucho gracious."
